Typical ISBL Energy Consumption for new world-scale grassroots NG-based ammonia plants producing 100% Cold Product, taking into account steam export-import and power consumption, ranges between 6.40 to 7.20 Gcal/MT (25.3 to 28.5 MMBTU/MT) on LHV Basis, depending upon the technology considered, NG supply pressure and CW supply temp at ISBL.

It typically takes about 26-30 months for mechanical completion of the ISBL grassroots ammonia plant after signing of the EPC and Engineering contracts.

Old ammonia plants commissioned prior to 2000, with production close to 1500 MTPD may be considered for production increase by 20% in economically viable manners. While plants with nameplate production higher than 2000 MTPD, constructed after 2000, may be revamped for 10% to 15% additional production. These are simple guidelines based on past experience and each revamp opportunity should be evaluated on its own merit, on case-to-case basis.

It typically takes 4 to 6 months to complete a revamp study.  The Base Case can be completed in about 2 to 3 months after collection of the plant data.  After confirmation of the Base Case findings by the plant teams, the revamp case can be completed during next 2 to 3 months.
